A comprehensive 13-day overland safari journey through the best of Kenya and Tanzania. Starting with iconic Nairobi wildlife experiences — Giraffe Centre, Elephant Orphanage and Karen Blixen Museum — before heading to Lake Elmenteita, the Masai Mara, then crossing into Tanzania to explore Tarangire, the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara, described by Ernest Hemingway as "the loveliest place I have ever seen."

Nairobi Arrival
Met at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and given a safari briefing before transfer to hotel. Dinner available at the hotel restaurant at extra cost.

Nairobi Highlights to Lake Elmenteita
Nairobi excursions: Giraffe Centre for hands-on feeding from a raised platform, Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage to see rescued calves, and the Karen Blixen Museum — the colonial home famous from the film Out of Africa. Lunch at Karen Blixen Coffee Gardens then drive to Lake Elmenteita Serena Camp in the Great Rift Valley.

Lake Elmenteita – Lake Nakuru Game Drive
Full day game drive to Lake Nakuru National Park (30 minutes away). Lions, buffalo, rhinos, leopards and spectacular flamingo flocks on the lake. Return to Elementaita for sunset and dinner.

Drive to Masai Mara National Reserve. Arrive for lunch. Afternoon relaxation then your first evening game drive when the temperature cools.

Masai Mara – Game Drives
Optional sunrise hot-air balloon safari (extra cost) for a serene perspective above the plains. Otherwise full day game drives in search of the Big Five and wildebeest migration. Visit the Mara River for dramatic crossings in season.

Early morning game drives when animals are most active. Explore acacia-dotted plains, tree-lined rivers and woodlands. Visit the Mara River crossing routes and look for the Big Five.

Masai Mara to Tanzania via Nairobi
After breakfast and checkout, driven to Wilson Airport with packed lunch. Afternoon flight to Kilimanjaro Airport. Met by Tanzanian driver-guide and transferred to Mount Meru Game Lodge in Arusha for the night.

Tarangire National Park
Morning views of Mt Meru before heading to Tarangire National Park for a full day game drive. Famous for massive elephant herds of up to 500, giant termite mounds and diverse birdlife. Transfer to camp on the Great Rift Valley Escarpment at dusk.

Drive to the Serengeti with a packed lunch, game viewing into Tanzania's oldest national park — the endless plain. The greatest natural spectacle on earth: wildebeest, zebra, lions, leopards and cheetahs. Check in to your central Serengeti camp for dinner.

Full day morning and evening game drives in the Serengeti. Quiet evenings by the campfire under the African sky.

Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Drive through Ngorongoro Conservation Area, stopping at Olduvai Gorge — the Cradle of Mankind — for a guided tour. Drive the Crater Rim for caldera views before checking in at your Karatu lodge.

Early descent into the Ngorongoro Crater — the world's largest intact volcanic caldera. UNESCO World Heritage Site with a large resident Big Five population including black rhino. Flamingos, Lammergeyer and eagles add extraordinary birdwatching.

Lake Manyara to Arusha – Departure
Visit Lake Manyara National Park — Hemingway's 'loveliest place' — with tree-climbing lions, hippos, flamingos and remarkable diversity. Drive to Arusha for lunch then transfer to Kilimanjaro or Arusha Airport.
